The regular betting patterns that are normally taught to new players are based on the pass line bet and all of the complications that come from that, and that might not be the best way for new players to learn. Instead, we’re going to take a different approach here and give you the three easiest craps bets that you can make. You can make these bets at any point in play, so you don’t have to worry about waiting for a new come out roll.

The first bet that we want to look at is a place bet on either a total of six or eight. The way this bet works is that you’ll win at a rate of 7:6 if your number comes (you choose either six or eight), and you’ll lose if a seven comes. All other numbers push. This bet has a 0.46 percent house advantage on each individual roll, and it has a low volatility because of all of the ways for the bet to push. This is a great bet to play because it’s simple, has a low house edge, and it’s easy to follow the action.

For this second bet, you’ll need to find out if a commission is paid on the win only or on all bets with buy bets. If it’s on wins only, then you can play what’s called a buy bet on a roll of either four or ten with good results. You’re paid out at fair odds minus a five percent commission, and this bet works a lot like the place bet. You win if a four or ten comes, you lose if a seven comes, and you tie on all other rolls. This bet has a 0.42 percent house advantage, and it has a slightly higher volatility than the place bet recommended above.

You can also take a lay bet, which is similar to a buy bet in that you need to make sure the commission is only paid on a win before you take it. It has the same 0.42 percent house advantage on a roll of four or ten, and it also pays out at fair odds minus a five percent commission. You win if a seven comes with this bet and lose if a four or ten comes.
