Microgaming Power Poker Online Video Poker
Microgaming is a preferred software provider to Australian online casinos. In its portfolio of video poker games it offers a category known as Power Poker. These are multi-hand video poker games. The most common video poker variants can be played with 4, 10, 50 or 100 hands at a time. These variants include Aces & Faces, Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, Joker Poker and others. There are separate titles for different number of hands. If you are playing 4 hands Jacks or Better Power Poker and want to switch to 10 hands, then you have to open a new game. You cannot switch the number of hands from within a game.
Power Poker video poker games begin the same way as the single hand ones. You select the number of coins to be wagered and the coin size. The payout table is the same as for the single hand online video poker variant, so always go for the maximum five coins to be in line for jackpot payouts. The bet amount will be multiplied by the number of hands in the selected Power Poker game. Five cards will be dealt in the large playing area. You select the cards that you want to hold. Then the multi-hand element comes into play. These held cards are then transferred the corresponding positions in all the hands. When you click the Draw button the remaining cards in the main hand are replaced and the remaining cards in the other hands are exposed. Each hand is independently compared with the payout table and the payouts awarded.
Power Poker multi-hand video poker variants increase the speed of game play, particularly the 50 hands and the 100 hands games. This is the reason that Microgaming Power Poker is in demand by Australian online casino players whose stock choice is video poker. But this advantage comes with some constraints that you should be aware of. You would have realized that all the hands carry the same bet. If you are a player that likes to change the bet amount frequently then you should stay with single hand games or limit yourself to 4 hands Power Poker. A more important issue is volatility. Multi-hand video poker increases the risk level. If your initial hand is unfavourable, then you are stuck with low payout expectations for all the hands. But if you are dealt hot cards, say with a three of a kind hand ranking, then you will make a killing.
