This is a fun game with a skill element that is a great introduction to the basic gameplay that you can find in other types of casino poker. The way the game is played isn’t particularly difficult, but you should know the five-card poker hands and their rankings before you get started if you want to have fun with this game. The reason for this is that it’s not very fun to have to stop and think through the poker hand rankings every time you decide to play a hand.

Here’s how this game works. You start out by placing a bet before any cards are dealt, and this bet is called the ante. Then you’ll receive five cards, all face-up. The dealer is also given five cards, but four of them are face-down. You have to make a decision at this point in the hand. Your first option is to fold and give up your ante and any chance of winning the hand. The second option is to raise which requires an additional bet that’s worth twice of the size of the ante. From there, the dealer turns over his or her cards and payouts are determined.

If the dealer doesn’t make at least AK-high, then you’ll just win 1:1 on your ante and push on the raise bet. If the dealer does make at least AK-high, then you’ll be looking to beat the dealer. If you lose after the dealer qualifies, then you’ll lose both of your bets. However, if you win, then you’ll win 1:1 on the ante bet and you’ll win a payout from the raise bet based on a payout table that uses your final hand’s value to determine your prize.

Strategy for this game is pretty simple for most hands. If you have worse than AK-high, then you’ll always fold. If you have at least a pair, then you’ll always raise. For hands where you have exactly AK-high with no pair, it’ll depend on the cards in your hand and the card that the dealer has up. You have to make the best play you can based on the information that’s in front of you, but it’s usually pretty simple to figure out how you should go.
